What is Plan Lunenburg?
We are working on a Master Plan to develop a shared community vision for the long-term development of Lunenburg.
A comprehensive plan takes a long range view of the Town’s land use, housing, open spaces, natural and cultural resources, public facilities, economic development, and transportation—and tries to shape the direction of the Town for the next five to fifteen years.
What is a comprehensive plan?
Why does Lunenburg need a comprehensive plan?
The Town completed its last comprehensive plan in 2002, more than twenty years ago. The Lunenburg Planning Board initiated this new comprehensive plan process, Plan Lunenburg, to explore and define the Town’s shared vision and create an updated framework for future Town goals and policies.
The creation of a shared vision first, followed by goals and policy recommendations, will require community input throughout the process and from all corners of Lunenburg.
The Planning Board commissioned a team of consultants—OverUnder, RKG Associates, and Innes Associates—who have the complementary skill sets needed to get the job done, and who share a commitment to community engagement as an effective means to do so.
In addition, the Master Plan Committee of Lunenburg, MA, a steering committee of volunteers was formed to serve as the bridge between the consultant team and the larger community. Their meetings are public and all are invited to attend.
